About The Great North U18 League
Founded in 1986, the Great North U18 "AAA" league has, since it's inception, become recognized as Ontario's premiere U18 league and a great development league for young players interested in improving their skills and possibly moving on to Junior or University hockey.
The league currently operates with nine clubs from Sault St. Marie, Rayside/Balfour, Kirkland Lake, Valley East, Sudbury, North Bay, New Liskeard, Timmins and Kapuskasing.
Over 1600 young men have participated in league play since its inception in 1986 with many going on to participate with junior teams, university and professional hockey. At the same time, Great North league teams have captured three of the last three Air Canada Regional championships and have gone on to the National Championship. Many individual tournaments as well have been won by league teams making the league a force to he reckoned with in Canadian U18 "AAA" hockey.
